Securicor Alarms: how a new computer system is at the heart of its transformation from an 'alarm technology' company to an organisation selling peace of mind
Article Abstract:
Securicor Alarms had been unprofitable for six years in 1992 and it was losing customers due to its focus on technical excellence rather than customer satisfaction. John Deadman became managing director in 1992 and made many cultural and structural changes, including the disbanding of the technical department. He developed a 'putting people first' programe giving staff the tools required to undertake their jobs efficiently. He also invested in information technology to support the business plan. The company beat its budget targets in his first year, and returned to profit in his second year.
