The exhibition displays not only paintings but also everyday artifacts all featuring a macabre motif. A Van Dyck portrait of Lady Venetia after death is presented along with such items as snuff boxes, watches, cups and hair decorations. The time span covers the 17th through the 19th century in Europe.

Point-to-point racing, or amateur steeplechasing, is thriving in Britain while big-time racing is faltering. The prizes are small, the training and upkeep are fairly high, and much of the proceeds are used to sponsor hunts. The sport succeeds because it is fun.
