China renews its efforts to join WTO after averting trade war with the U.S
Article Abstract:
China lowered some tariffs and held trade discussions with the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development. These moves may be interpreted as a renewal of China's campaign to be admitted into the World Trade Organization, which rejected China as a founding member because of its closed markets. China has just emerged from an agreement with the US to increase the protection against intellectual property rights piracy, and to open its movie, music and software markets to avert a trade war with the US.

Though China works hard at inhospitality, foreign investors hunker down for long term
Article Abstract:
An increasing number of foreign companies operating in China are complaining about the country's uncertain regulatory environment and chaotic business environment. However, very few are scrambling to leave the country even if they are already losing a substantial amount of money. For these companies, the enormous long-term potential of the Chinese market far outweighs their current difficulties and they are staying on in anticipation of better times.
