Share buyback at Foster's

Asahi Breweries Ltd. and Broken Hill Proprietary Company Ltd. are selling their Foster's Brewing Group Ltd. stock, which analysts say is a welcome move for Foster's investors. Asahi is letting Foster's buy back 13% of its stocks at A$2.49 per share and Broken Hill is selling its shares to two different companies at the same price. Broken Hill investors were not too happy about the move and Broken Hill stock dipped at the time of the announcement.

San Miguel chairman survives a bid to oust him
Article Abstract:
Philippines' based San Miguel Corp.'s chairman, Eduardo Cojuangco Jr., was able to survive the government's effort to removed him from his position at the company. Cojuango is a business ally of the former Philippines President Joseph Estrada. Corporate secretary Francis Jardeleza allowed Cojuango to use the voting rights of shares sequestered by the government in 1986. The stock was frozen when Ferdinand Marcos was overthrown.
