Shell plans cost cutting as profit is threatened
Article Abstract:
Royal Dutch-Shell PLC announced plans to outsource approximately 3,000 information technology service positions as part of a cost reduction program. The petroleum company will also restructure expatriate packages and restructure foreign ventures and eliminate certain finance positions. High oil prices are driving cost inflation industrywide and causing governments to demand better contract terms.

Shell's earnings rise 16% on gains, higher oil prices
Article Abstract:
Third-quarter net profit for Royal Dutch Shell PLC increased 16% to $6.92 bil, while revenue rose 7.7% to reach $90.7 bil. While earnings growth was restricted due in part to Shell's relinquishing of a Russian joint venture, gains and high oil prices counterbalanced weak refining margins.
