Shell ties woes of Russia Project to lack of data

Royal Dutch-Shell Group of Cos. of the Netherlands is facing overruns and delays in the Sakhalin II project in Russia, costing the petroleum company $20 billion or roughly 16 billion Euros, twice as much as expected. The oil company blames the cost of going ahead without sufficient information and unforseen factors such as the effect of ice on the pipeline and environmental concerns.

Shell to raise spending, due partly to inflation

Royal Dutch-Shell Group of Cos. of the Netherlands has announced an increase of approximately 27 percent ($19 billion) in capital spending in 2006. The petroleum company cites reasons for increases due to current and new projects as well as greater production costs. The projected spending increase exceeded analysts expectations of $15 billion.
