Royal Dutch-Shell Group of Cos. of the Netherlands has reported a $10 billion cost overrun on the Sakhalim II Russian energy project. The petroleum giant is subject to increased development costs. The oil industry has experienced huge revenue having returned some funds to shareholders as well as investing in development projects.

Shell's 5% rise in quarterly net beats forecasts
Article Abstract:
Royal Dutch/Shell Group posted an improvement of 5% in its net income for the second-quarter of 1999. The company posted $1.61 billion (1.49 billion euros) for the period. The result were higher than what most analysts had predicted. During the same period in 1998, Royal Dutch/Shell reported $1.54 billion in net income.
