Shopping for experts? More a case of courting controversy
Article Abstract:
Experts may have to find themselves subjected to greater scrutiny before being appointed and 'expert shopping' may become less common as a result of a recent decision of the Court of Appeal. It is suggested that experts give evidence for the benefit of the court and that they should not act as advocates for their appointing party.

The liability smokescreen that could be a cause for alarm
Article Abstract:
A court case of Sahib v Paskin Kyriakides Sands (PKS) where PKS was found to be responsible for the spread of fire through a food factory is presented. The Court of Appeal took a broader view and held that Sahib contributed to its own loss in two ways.

It pays to check your single joint expert's past at the outset
Article Abstract:
The moral duty of the experts is to help the court even if they are instructed and paid by one party. The single joint experts are unattained by being the claimant's, which is the one benefit that they posses.
