Sikorsky wins CH-53E and S-70 business
Article Abstract:
Sikorsky bagged an order from the Turkish Defence Ministry for eight CH-53E heavy-lift helicopters. The defense ministry, which is using the funding from US Exim Bank loan credits, recommended the purchase to the Council of Ministers after competitive bidding between Rosvoorouzhenie/Rostvertol, Boeing and Sikorsky over a two-year period. The purchase of another 50 Sikorsky S-70A Black Hawks, which are also financed under the reactivated Exim Bank loan programme, is also expected to get approval from the Council of Ministers.

Article Abstract:
Sikorsky Aircraft Div has been chosen to supply eight S80E (CH-53E) Super Stallion helicopters to the government of Turkey. The contract, valued at $350 million, was signed in Ankara, Turkey, on Jun 6, 2000. The Super Stallion, which will be equipped with the same avionics suite used for the S-70A Black Hawk fleet of the Turkish Army, will be able to carry an external load of as much as 14515 kg (32000 lbs) or 55 fully-equipped troops.

Article Abstract:
The Agusta is the South African government's preferred bidder for a R2168- million contract that covers 40 light utility helicopters, designated A109M. The helicopter is equipped with two Pratt and Whitney PW207 or Turbomeca Arrius engines, composite main rotor system, a range of armament options, LCD display avionics and crashworthy undercarriage. The customization and final assembly of the A109M will be done by Denel Aviation.
