Slovaks v Czechs on gypsies
Article Abstract:
The Slovakian government has appointed a minority rights minister who is especially concerned about improving relations with Slovakian gypsies, but there is concern that the coalition government may not last long enough for this to have an impact. Romanies face ethnic intolerance in both Slovakia and the Czech Republic. They have high levels of unemployment, face racist attacks, and many are classed as dysfunctional by the educational system. The Czech government has started to improve the rights of Romanies, but critics argue that the measures are ineffective.
