Snow's remarks jolt dollar
Article Abstract:
The the value of the U.S. dollar has dropped against the Chinese yen, the British pound, and Europe's euro, and though its value is expected to continue weakening, analysts contend that the U.S. currency has not yet reached catastrophic proportions. U.S. President George W. Bush is expected to discuss monetary policy with Chinese President Hu Jintao at an upcoming APEC meeting. His aim will be to get China to float the yen against the dollar.

Dollar gets bogged down
Article Abstract:
As the value of the U.S. dollar reaches a low not seen in several years, analysts fear that the decline may only be the beginning of a long-anticipated slide. Record-high oil prices that are taking a toll on the U.S. economy as well as a widening trade deficit and a fall in net portfolio-investment inflows into the U.S. do not bode well for the dollar.
