South Korean voters elected a new government that has majority of the members of the new Uri Party that has backed the 14-month-old administration of President Roh Moo Hyun. Further, analysts predict that Uri's electoral triumph seems to end the bid by the outgoing legislature to have Roh impeached.

The shortage of liquefied natural gas (LNG) in South Korea, the second-highest LNG importer in the world and the steps taken by it to overcome the deficiency have been described. South Korea's inability to sign new LNG supply contract with exporters and the reasons thereof has been mentioned.
