National Grid mulls buying 2nd U.S. utility
Article Abstract:
National Grid Group is considering the possibility of acquiring Eastern Utilities Associates. The proposed deal follows National Grid's announcement that it plans to acquire New England Electric Systems for $3.2 billion. According to analysts, a deal with Eastern Utilities would come out to $800 million to $1 billion. National Grid wants to acquire Eastern Utilities as soon as possible in order to include it in their regulatory filings for the New England Electric acquisition.
