Article Abstract:
A US$6-million contract for the modernization of Colombia's air-traffic management system is a historic development for Spanish electronics group Indra, which has won every air-traffic control bid it has entered into in Latin America. Indra used to be a part of the government-owned Sociedad Estatal de Participaciones Estatales but was spun off in 1999. It is made up of three divisions, information and control systems; simulation and automatic maintenance systems; and electronic defense equipment.

Finding ways to reduce runway incursions
Article Abstract:
Sensis Corp has unveiled a sensor package for monitoring and tracking aircraft on the runway. The Multistatic Dependent Surveillance (MDS) system is currently under demonstration under the Federal Aviation Administration's Runway Incursion Reduction Program. MDS uses multiple non-rotating geographically-dispersed sensors to receive transponder responses and deterimine their position based on the Time Difference of Arrival of the pulses.
