Spiritual healing
Article Abstract:
It is planned to remodel the interior of one of Nicholas Hawksmoor's churches in London, England. St-George-in-the-East was consecrated in 1729. Hawksmoor saw his churches as interpretations of Roman public architecture but his basilicas were too large for their congregations. St George's had to be rebuilt after damage in World War II, although the Hawksmoor exterior was retained. Stanton Williams has now designed a new interior to include two performance spaces in a collaboration between the church and the Guildhall Ensemble of postgraduate music and drama students.
