Sticky prices in a dynamic oligopoly: an investigation of (s,S) thresholds
Article Abstract:
An investigation of the strategic implications of costly price adjustment was conducted by asking managers engaged in state-space game if prices are affected more by the dynamic considerations that emerge while they are making choices on the state than by the myopic pricing rules are used by players. The data used in this research include cost, sales, weekly prices and promotional activity for crackers sold by different grocery stores. Findings show that price rigidity is worsened by strategic behavior.
