Still upbeat on Hong Kong
Article Abstract:
The Fifth Survey of Global Institutional Sentiment Towards Emerging Markets survey conducted by Fulcrum Research Ltd. on behalf of public relations firm Burston Marsteller showed fund managers still confident of Hong Kong's viability in the global financial markets, despite the jitters presented by the coming handover. The only concerns projected by many of the surveyed fund managers are the pegging of the Hong Kong dollar to the US dollar and the performance of China-based, Hong Kong-listed companies which seem to be due for a consolidation. These fund managers believe that the Hong Kong market has already largely adjusted to the coming handover and remains vigorous in its financial markets.

Prospects for economy buff up India's stock market: shares almost glow when compared against neighbors'; some analysts say 'keep buying.'
Article Abstract:
Investment advisers are hopeful that the upward trend being experienced by the Indian stock market will continue. The Indian stock market has risen 16% so far in 1997 and is set to rise even further but some analysts remain wary because of outdated legislation, a tangled bureaucracy, poor infrastructure and political instability. Many analysts however, remain optimistic as the Indian stock market continues to grow while other markets in Asia have slowed.
