Suez Lyonnaise makes bid for United Water Resources

Suez Lyonnaise des Eaux SA has made an offer of $1 billion (937.9 million euros) to acquire United Water Resources Inc. (UWR). UWR is Suez's municipal water distribution subsidiary based in the US. The deal would give Suez a stronger position as the leading water services company in the world. The deal will also make Suez the leader in the water marketplace in the US.
