Suharto son's Bimantara Group plans to seek listing
Article Abstract:
Indonesia's PT Bimantara Citra (Bimantara) has announced plans to get a listing on the Jakarata stock exchange. Although company officials decline to comment on the plan, official press releases state that Bimantara will definitely take many of its subsidiaries public. The issue itself is not that large but much interest has been generated because of the fact that Bimantara is owned by the son of Indonesian Pres. Suharto. Some analysts believe that the listing is designed to blunt criticism that Bimantara's success is due more to political connections than business ability.

Article Abstract:
Many analysts agree that the Salim Group's plans to shift flour-milling operations from PT Indocement Tunggal Prakarsa (Indocement) to PT Indofood Sukses Makmur (Indofood) will redound to Indocement's benefit. They state that the planned sale would most likely have a detrimental effect on Indofood's FY 1995 earnings. In addition, there are widespread doubts regarding how Indofood will be able to pay for the acquisition of the flour-milling operation.
