Suiza, Southern Foods to form largest milk supplier in U.S

Suiza Foods Corp. announced that it is merging its milk operations in the US with Southern Foods Group LP. The deal will create the largest supplier of milk in the US. Suiza will form a joint venture that will run both firms' milk processing and distribution operations. The joint venture will have approximately $5 billion (4.8 billion euros) in yearly revenues. Suiza will own around 66% of the venture.

Motorola may take special charge in 3rd quarter on Iridium revamp

Motorola Inc. announced that it might assume a "special charge" during the third-quarter of 1999. The charge would result from Iridium LLC's restructuring. Iridium is a struggling global satellite telephone firm. Iridium is currently engaged in debt restructuring talks with creditors. Motorola owns 18% of the company. Motorola is also Iridium's largest financial supporter.
