Sweden's AssiDomaen plans to spin off forest assets sooner than expected
Article Abstract:
AssiDomaen AB plans to spin off its forest assets to shareholders in 1999. The move is in line with Sweden's minister of trade and industry's need to acquire some of the company's main forest assets, since the government controls 50.2% stake in the company. Under the plan, the state will launch a public offering for the shares in the new company, called Vasaskog. This will be after the shares have been distributed to AssiDomaen shareholders and listed in Stockholm. Meanwhile, the new company will have 900,000 hectares of productive land.
