The London Stock Exchange's selection of Anderson Consulting to upgrade its computerized stock quotation system is unpopular with some member firms, who prefer a trading system modeled after the US's NASDAQ. Anderson Consulting's system will cost about 50 million pounds.

The London Stock Exchange may lose its status as the center of European trading because of its archaic paper based system. Attempts to implement the Taurus electronic trading system have failed, and investors are fed up with the time it takes to complete transactions.
