TATA AIRPORT PROJECT GETS GREEN SIGNAL FROM MINISTRY
Article Abstract:
The international airport project of the Tata group in Bangalore has been cleared by the Civil Aviation Ministry of the Government of India. The major changes in the earlier proposal include restructuring the equity structure and the size of land. The Tata consortium has been allowed to hold 74 percent in the equity and the Karnataka Government and the Airports Authority of India will hold 13 percent stake each. The Ministry has allotted 2,500 acres for the project instead of 3,500 acres sought by the Tatas. The remaining land will be retained by the Karnataka Government. Regarding the landing fee, the airport will levy Rs125 per landing of an aircraft compared to Rs100 now. (gsh)
