TF1 raises stake in TPS to 50%, takes on Canal unit

France Telecom S.A. has sold off a minority share of Television Par Satellite (TPS) to Television Francaise 1 S.A. (TF1) in a move that will face TF1 in direct competition with CanalSatellite. TF1 acquired 25% of TPS, thereby increase its share to 50%.
