TOTAL XEROX
Article Abstract:
Modi Xerox (MX) holds a 60 percent share in the Rs700 crore copier market. It is now focusing on becoming a total office documentation company. MX has launched about 35 new products in the last two years. At the lower end, there are colour and black and white inkjets and at the higher end emphasis is on the laser products and copiers like 50 to 135 pages-per-minute models. The company's Vision 2000 programme envisages development, manufacture and marketing of an array of document products and solutions. MX has also developed a Hindi interface for its copiers. The new marketing plan adopted by MX involves classifying the user market vertically on standard industrial classification and horizontally by splitting the market into private organisations and companies. Marketing is taken care of by mass marketing managers, sales promotion agents besides telemarketing and telesales. A retail network of shops have also been established under the name, Xerox Document Centers. MX is also going in for a franchise network. The company hopes to achieve revenues of Rs750 crore in 1998-99. (uh)
