TOYOTA KIRLOSKAR PUTS IN PLACE DEALER NETWORK

Toyota Kirloskar Motors Pvt Ltd has finalised its vendor and dealer network for the proposed launch of its multi-purpose vehicle by January 2000 AD. It has initially appointed 22 dealers across India. It is relying on the existing base of automobile vendors due to lower volumes in the first phase. It will be producing 20,000 multi-purpose vehicles initially and increasing them to 50,000 by the end of the first phase. The indigenous content of the multi-purpose vehicle will be over 50 percent. PRICE OF PDS RICE MAY BE HIKED TO OFFSET HIGHER MSP

The Central government is thinking of hiking the public distribution system prices of rice in the next 2-3 months to offset the increase in the minimum support price of paddy. The government has been forced to take this decision as the higher support prices will increase the food subsidy bill. The 6 percent increase in minimum support price of paddy is expected to hike the price of rice in the open market. (khr)
