TSMC shows interest in Acer

Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co (TSMC) is looking into the possibility of acquiring a portion of Acer Semiconductor Manufacturing Inc's (ASMI) business. Although both companies have yet released details of the deal, sources say TSMC is eyeing for a 30% stake of ASMI. Industry observers believe that the acquisition, should it materialize, would enhance both parties' plant utilization level and capacity rates.
