SG Asset's tech fund looks back to get ahead

Manager of the Asian New Economy Fund for SG Asset Management, Lim Fang Suan, is interested in moving away from Internet companies in order to shore up his technology fund. The fund lost 42% after opening in July 2000 due to overvalued Internet stocks such as Pacific Century Cyberworks, Pacific Internet, AsiaInfo, and Chinadotcom. Mr. Lim's picks include Li & Fung, Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing, and United Microelectronics.

Hong Kong advertisers find shock-ad strategies pay off

Sunday Communications is among the companies advertising shock ads in Hong Kong directed at the teenager and young adult market. Sunday's ads feature scenes such as violent car crashes, ghostly hauntings, and people accidentally eating eyeballs. Although the ads are sparking numerous complaints, they have won Sunday two honorary marketing awards and have generated many customers.
