Taking to the Aire
Article Abstract:
There have been many challenges associated with setting up Sand Air Private Equity, which began operating on Jan 21, 1997, according to Managing Director David Williams and Chmn Alexander Scott. It was initially necessary to create a business plan, and then attention had to be given to the many expressions of interest prompted by the initial profile-raising activities. The concern completed three deals in 1997, the largest of which was the 3 million pounds sterling invested in the 92 million pounds sterling management buy-in of County Hotels Group.

'We've never had it so good,' claims Forrest
Article Abstract:
Economic volatility does not necessarily have to be a cause for concern for venture capitalists, according to HSBC Private Equity Managing Director Ian Forrest. Volatility brings down the price of target companies and makes it possible to purchase assets at lower prices. He believes that there are benefits in the maturity and resulting sophistication of the venture capital market. He believes that it will be increasingly necessary to devote attention to strategies that produce good returns.
