President Jose Manuel Barroso of the European Union has sounded out against German and French efforts to end tax competition. European Union economic policy has an aim to create greater jobs and growth by promoting increased cross-border competition, greater flexibility in labor markets, less burdensome welfare systems and a promotion of technology development.
