Telecom Italia's net profit plunged 30% in first half

Telecom Italia SpA posted a decline of almost 30% in its net profits for the first-half of 1999. The company has been experiencing pressure on its fixed-line operations. Telecom Italia has also seen ongoing growth in its Telecom Italia Mobile SpA unit. The company posted 1.764 trillion lire (911 million euros) in net profits for the period. Revenues rose almost 10% to 25.382 trillion lire.
