The government in Thailand seems to be in a constant state of flux, as there have been six coup attempts since 1973, and no government has been in power for more than 2.5 years. More prudent economic management, as well as an effort to attract good people to civil service, would be two worthwhile steps.

While the US and China debate intellectual property rights, the government of Thailand appears to be taking steps to counter intellectual piracy in their country. In 1994, Thai government officials secured the first three convictions of people dealing in pirated computer software.
