Advertising expenditure on household cleaning agents in Germany accounted for 14.8% of retail sales in 1996, as it reached DM362.3 million. The amount compares to only DM148.6 million in 1991, when ad expenditure on household cleaning agents accounted for only 11.3% of retail sales. Article Abstract:
Of the DM362.3 million total advertising expenditure in the German market for household cleaning agents in 1996, 95% was channelled to television, which is regarded as a more costly but more more effective conduit. Commercial radio accounted for 3% of total ad spend in the sector in 1996, followed by consumer magazines and the trade press with 1% each. It is noted that increased advertising allocations have enabled manufacturers to infuse more advertising funds into television media.
