The US war against terrorism will be a long and difficult one, despite the progress made against Afghanistan's Taliban regime. Even if Osama bin Laden is killed or captured, his al-Qaeda terrorist network will still exist, as will other terrorist groups and the threat of weapons of mass destruction.
