The most dangerous man in Britain
Article Abstract:
The United Kingdom government's press secretary, Alastair Campbell, has dealth effectively with an inquiry into his role by the Public Administration Committee. Campbell is a former tabloid journalist. The Sun newspaper, owned by Rupert Murdoch, has criticised prime minister Tony Blair for his policy in relation to European monetary union. There are a number of politicians from the ruling Labor party who would like to curb the power of the media, and this could be seen as an atteck on Murdoch. The Labor party may be too concerned with Murdoch's influence.

From Beaverbrook to Blair
Article Abstract:
The Express newspaper has had long-term political links with United Kingdom governments. The newspaper's creator, Lord Beaverbrook, made payments to the Home Secretary for information in the 1930s. The Express's circulation peaked at 4.3 million copies in 1963 and was once the world's best selling newspaper. The Express was acquired by a Labor peer, Lord Hollick, in 1996, and has since become more friendly to the Labor party, part of a wider trend of a closer relationship between the party and the tabloid press.
