Women candidates make poor showing especially in their bids for Senate seats. Only two women are now in the US Senate. Two California women may change this. Diane Feinstein and Barbara Boxer are running for the Senate. Kathleen Brown whose father and brother were governors, also may challenge Gov Pete Wilson.

A fault-line shivers: California
Article Abstract:
The movement to split California into at least two separate states is gaining strength. A referendum on the issue revealed strong support, especially in the northern, rural counties. The US Congress would have to approve such a split.
