The sweet smell of success
Article Abstract:
Bacteria on the skin eat sebum, secreting fatty acids, and this gives rise to underarm smells. Anti-perspirants can prevent sweat from being secreted using aluminum salts, though allergic reactions can occur. Deodorants can be used killing bacteria, though there are risks from harmful bacteria recolonising the skin. Quest International has identified Corynebacteria as responsible for smell. A perfume has been developed that gets the bacteria to eat anothertype of carbon, and no smell sis produced.

The sweet smell of success
Article Abstract:
The perfume industry has to invest in research in a similar way to pharmaceutical firms, and techniques are often similar. Organic chemistry is used for most perfumes, and perfumes tend to be used more for household products such as detergents, rather than on the human body. Research is being carried out on pheromones and their ability to attract others in night clubs in London, England. Fragrances can also have a tranquilizing effect and calm people with mild anxiety.
