Intrinsic deal could spur overseas growth

AsiaInfo Holdings Inc. and Fidelity Capital Far East have acquired a stake in Shanghai-based Intrinsic Technology (Holdings) Ltd. for $8.2 million as part of an alliance to develop mobile-Internet technology for China. AsiaInfo has reported that it will have a significant minority stake in Intrinsic and will have the option to buy up to 51% control within two years. The benefits of the relationship between AsiaInfo and Intrinsic are discussed.

Thornton's Asian IPO fund has China, Hong Kong tilt: vehicle with regional scope also targets resilient stock markets of India and Singapore

Thornton-Management (Asia) Ltd has launched the Thornton Asian IPO Fund in time for an expected string of initial public offerings from China. The company hopes the potential Chinese IPOs would convince investors to bring their money to the fund. The new product will invest principally in IPOs in the region, or in companies that have gone public for less than two years. It will be managed by Hong Kong-based Albert Ng and will have Singapore-based Ronald Chan as adviser.
