Toronto dailies hit by transit papers
Article Abstract:
A study done by the Interpublic Group of Companies reveals that Toronto's three free transit tabloids have gained a strong presence in the city's daily newspaper market, where nearly 20% of people aged 18 or older read one newspaper every day. The study adds that 8% of Toronto's adults read only the commuter papers and avoid the paid dailies entirely. The findings of the study have been disputed by Mark Stevens, publisher of Toronto Sun, and Andrew Go, president of Torstar Media Group.
