Transfer pricing and decentralized dynamic lot-sizing in multistage, multiproduct production processes
Article Abstract:
The Wagner-Whitin model for lot-sizing in manufacturing systems has been extended for international business enterprises with production facilities around the world. The original Wagner-Whitin model considers average rates of production and inventory holding costs in assigning the lot size of each facility. Such considerations are erased in the case of multinational firms. The difficulty, in this situation, is how to keep track of costs related to the transfer of products from one facility to the other. This may be done by considering the internally used prices of the products from each facility.

The ability to compensate for suboptimal capacity decisions by optimal pricing decisions
Article Abstract:
Research was conducted to examine the ability to compensate for suboptimal capacity decisions by optimal pricing decision which could also be considered as the sensitivity of profit to varying sizes of capacity. The effect was investigated analytically and numerically in a static environment for a monopolistic firm. Results indicate that suboptimal capacities have only a minor influence on profits as long as prices are set optimally.
