American manufacturer Solectron Corp. has acquired a factory from Sony Corp. and is continuing to make and sell Sony products from it. Solectron chief executive Koichi Nishimura capitalized on the recent trend for Japanese companies to outsource manufacturing in hopes of improving their return on equity, which has historically been very low.
