Treating ground movement
Article Abstract:
Ground movements can cause building subsidence for many reasons which are sometimes difficult to detect. A surveyor needs to understand the cause of such movement before repair work can be designed and undertaken. A number of basic checks should be followed in the site inspection to ascertain if building movement is really occurring. Once this has been established a series of further measures, including trial-pits, boreholes and drain tracing and testing, can be taken to establish the best correction techniques to use.
