Tricon Global Restaurants is employing a multilayer inter-restaurant promotional campaign as the exclusive restaurant merchandiser for the movie 'Phantom Menace.' Tricon, which owns the Taco Bell, Pizza Hut and KFC restaurant chains, will rely on TV and radio ads as well direct mail to promote the campaign. During the first six weeks, Tricon will sponsor a game where consumers can collect character 'chips' and match them with their cards to win prizes. Afterwards, each chain will offer its own separate merchandise to patrons.

P&G rebrands, expands Vidal line

Procter and Gamble Co has revamped and rebranded its VS Sassoon brand, formerly Vida Sassoon. The new line of hair products, complete with new packaging and advertising, is almost double the number of products of Vidal Sassoon, bringing the total to 31 products, inclduing shine sprays and frizz control creams. The old line was more basic, consisting largely of products such as shampoos and conditioners.
