Ucal Fuel Systems Limited (UFSL), Chennai, posted a net profit of Rs1,358.02 lakh for 1997-98. Its turnover increased by 25 percent while gross profit increased by 46 percent. Its Pondicherry plant achieved 100 percent capacity utilisation in the first year of operation. UFSL's Maraimalai Nagar plant achieved 90 percent production capacity. Exports increased by 140 percent. UFSL has secured QS-9000 and ISO 9002 certification from BVQI for both its Maraimalai Nagar and Pondicherry plants. The board of directors have recommended a 30 percent dividend for 1997-98. Ucal Fuel Systems Ltd has posted a net profit of Rs3.22 crore on a turnover of Rs21.9 crore in the third quarter of 1998-99 compared to a net profit of Rs3.50 crore on a turnover of Rs19.73 crore in the third quarter of 1997-98. It provided Rs2.55 crore towards depreciation (Rs1.26 crore) and Rs30 lakh for taxation (Rs38 lakh). The company says that shifting focus to carburetors for two-wheelers and special hardware for electronic fuel injection systems helped it to achieve good results. (khr)
