The Colonial life insurance brand name is to disappear from the UK market following its takeover by Wintherthur. It acquired Colonial's life and pension business for GB[pound] 301mn. The decision will end its 100-year history as a UK brand.

UK: Insurers not to increase use of genetic testing
Article Abstract:
The UK Association of British Insurers has agreed to a five-year moratorium on the use of genetic testing in the analysis of applications for insurance cover. Under an arrangement with the Department of Health, it will not be possible for insurers to ask clients wishing to take out life insurance policies of under GBu 500,000 to give any genetic test information. The moratorium has been warmly received by consumer protection organisations.
