UK: NAPF SEEKS TO EASE BURDEN OF PENSION REGULATIONS
Article Abstract:
The National Association of Pension Funds (NAPF) is concerned that employers are being weighed down by regulations which are becoming more complex and fear that occupational pension schemes will suffer as their management becomes more of a burden on company resources. A NAPF survey revealed that 64% of 500 employers questioned felt that increased complex legislation was making the provision of pension schemes more difficult and NAPF is to ask ministers to consider how this burden can be lessened.

UK: EMPLOYERS ARE UNAWARE OF OBLIGATIONS
Article Abstract:
According to research undertaken by Scottish Equitable (ScotEq), only 4% of 200 IFAs are confident that employers realise their obligations to stakeholder pensions, which will be introduced in April 2001. ScotEq hopes that corporate clients will use IFAs to help them plan how best to deal with stakeholder pensions, and will be holding pension roadshows across the UK during November 2000.

More companies probably designated plans in first week October 2001 to meet the deadline of 8 October 2001 and avoid being fined. Some of the 300,000-400,000 firms with five staff or more will be exempt from stakeholder regulations.
