UK: SECOND WAVE OF ADVERTISING FOR INVESTMENT TRUSTS
Article Abstract:
The Association of Investment Trust Companies (AITC) is launching a second wave of television advertising from January 2001 in Scotland and the south east to encourage people to purchase investment trusts. Over 170 investment trusts have provided GBu25m for the campaign since it began in 1999 and during the first year enquiries exceeded targets by 8%. However, the AITC has been criticised for demanding that firms provide the cash and could face problems funding the final third year if the campaign is not successful.

The AITC has claimed that the halving of contributions by the investment trusts had played a key role in the decision to scrap the campaign.
