UK: Sun Life taken over by Credit Suisse
Article Abstract:
Credit Suisse Asset Management's purchase of Sun Life of Canada Asset Management could lead to some job losses, as there are some areas in which the two businesses overlap. The deal, which must yet obtain regulatory approval, will boost Credit Suisse's assets under management by around GBu 11bn. Sun Life has 10 retail sub-funds split into UK equity, multi assets, corporate bonds, gilts and specific overseas equity regions. Credit Suisse's 16 retail funds include growth, corporate bond and equity income. Credit Suisse already manages GBu 1.5bn in UK retail funds, and the deal would increase this by GBu 700mn.
