INDIA'S COFFEE EXPORTS TO FACE SUPPLY SETBACK IN `99
Article Abstract:
Exports of coffee from the country will be affected in 1999 as the exportable surplus will be 182,282 tonnes compared to exports of 200,662 tonnes in 1998. The Coffee Board says that opening stocks in 1999 were only 7282 tonnes against 34,944 tonnes in 1998. This can be compensated only by a substantial increase in the latest coffee crop. But the 1998-99 crop is estimated at 230,000 tonnes which is only about 1700 tonnes more than the previous crop of 228,300 tonnes. (khr)
