Publishing - an increasingly multinational industry
Article Abstract:
In the publishing industry, there is a trend towards increased internationalization. As of 1982, 32 U.S. publishers were operating 82 overseas subsidiaries. United Kingdom publishers have increased their exports on the 1980s to $450 million in 1983. The U.S. market is not growing fast in the 1980's and reached a peak of $8.2 billion in 1982. Electronic media will soon have a strong impact on the industry, especially the compact disk, which is gaining acceptance for reference books such as encyclopedias.
